Special Thanks to Donnetta Johnson for testing!

Another fun and fast crochet pattern for a preemie or baby cap! I am still working on hats for the non-profit organization Stitches from the Heart and have been trying my hand at different patterns. I hope you like this one! The finish is different for boys and girls hats.

As with my previous patterns, I am offering it here free for personal use only. The pattern can be made for gifts, charities, etc., but not for sold items!

Materials Needed:
  • For a small newborn hat: About 50 yards of two colors of worsted weight yarn and a 5.5 (size I) hook (head circumference about 14.5 inches)
  • For a preemie hat: About 50 yards of two colors of DK weight yarn and a 5.0 (size H) hook (head circumference about 13 inches)
  • Needle to weave in ends
Hats shown in the pattern were made with Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Blossom & Violet (the girl version) and Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Sage and White (the boy version).

Pattern: (Two endings and mods to make larger)

Round 1: In first chain, crochet 12hdc. Join with a ss to top of the chain 2 (makes 12 sts total) to form a ring. TURN.
Round 2: Chain 1. 2hdc in each hdc. Join with a ss to chain 1 (24 sts). TURN

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or spot any errors.

If you decide to make "Love in 15", I would appreciate a link back to the pattern either here on the blog or on Ravelry so others can use it as well.

Happy Crocheting!
